Ica can be visited all year round due to its hot and dry climate with almost no rain. If you prefer to avoid the heat we recommend visiting Ica from April to October.
The average temperature is of 25°C in Ica.
- The International Wine Harvest festival is celebrated in Ica the first half of March. They celebrate the grape harvest which includes wine and pisco tasting, a food festival, parades, the election of the festival queen and music concerts
- The religious celebration of the Lord of Luren is celebrated the first Thursday and third Monday of October. Large crowds attend processions of this patron saint of the city complemented by fairs, games and other events.
- Semana Santa is the catholic national holiday celebrated the end of March and beginnings of April (date changes each year). You can see throughout the country a lot of processions and other events. During this period a lot of Peruvians have their holiday so book hotels in advance since they tend to be full in this period.
Unfortunately there are no restaurants of high quality and service in Paracas. Paracas is developing itself with already first class hotels, but it still lacks good restaurants and shopping facilities. There is a restaurant called the Bahía which serves good ceviches at the Chaco Boulevard. We recommend further on eating at the hotels La Hacienda, Double Tree Paracas and Libertador.
In Ica we recommend eating at the restaurant Don Fernando for typical dishes and international dishes. If you like to eat pasta or pizza we recommend eating at La Venecia. If you like to eat in a rustic, rural restaurant which serves good regional food we recommend eating in Olla de Juanita located near the winery El Catador.
In Nazca we recommend eating at restaurant El Portón with regional and international dishes on the menu and frequently live music.
What type of transportation is available to get to Ica, Paracas or Nazca?
We have various vans and cars of good quality and equipped with air-conditioning which can be rented with driver for private transport from Lima or Arequipa to Ica, Paracas or Nazca. There are also buses of good quality going to the South of Peru like Cruz del Sur and Oltursa. They have various departures each day from Lima to Ica. You can contact us for more information and prices.
We offer various adventure tours in buggies like the classic dune buggy tour with some sand boarding which lasts one hour. We also offer tours in 4x4 vehicles and buggies through the desert in search of fossils, virgin beaches and even camping. More information about our adventure tours can be found through this link:

The dune buggy tour in general is of one hour without transfers. In Ica the transfers takes about 10 minutes depending on the hotel you are staying in. In Paracas the transfer is about 20 minutes. In Ica there is a dune buggy tour at the end of the day which lasts about 1,5 hour in which you can enjoy the sunset in the desert.
Tours to the Ballestas Islands have fixed departure times, one of them at 08.00 a.m. and frequently we have one departure at 10.00 a.m. In high season we sometimes even have departures after 10.00 a.m. In general we recommend going in the morning to the Ballestas Islands because the waters are calm and in the afternoon the sea gets rough.
In the morning it can be chilly so we recommend bringing a jacket to protect you from the wind. Also bring some sun block, sunglasses and comfortable shoes to get in the boat easily.
We have our own boats for the excursions to the Ballestas Islands for 20, 30 and 40 people, leaving from our private pier in Paracas. Our boats have GPS system, radio communication, Nextel, two-person leather seats, microphone so that all passengers can hear the explanation at once, restroom on board and our boats leave in time. There are flights to the Nazca Lines from Paracas, Ica and Nazca. The prices and flight duration vary depending from which city you are taking your flight. The flight from Paracas is of one hour and 45 minutes. The flight from Ica is of one hour and 10 minutes and from Nazca the flight is of 35 minutes.
We work together in Ica and Nazca with Aerocondor/Travel Air and from Paracas with Travel Air and Aerodiana.
The airplanes we use for the flights to the Nazca Lines are safe and some of them are brand new. The airplanes are Caravans and Cessna type with capacities of 3, 5, 7 and 12 persons. The airline makes the schedule and decides upon the airplane you are going to fly in.
